TOPOGRAPHICAL STRUCTURE
The village of Thiruvilwamala have many
peculiarities; Northern, Southern and Western borders are being
surrounded by rivers. The village is approx. 50m above the
sea-level. Sand soil, fertile clay soil, red soil are the different
varieties of soil present here.
PILGRIMAGE CENTRES
This village have many ancient
temples and grooves. Sri Vilwadrinatha Temple is one of
such. Parakkottukavu is also famous for the annual
thalappoli.
SOME HISTORY
Thiruvilwamala was a part of native
kingdom centered at Kochi. In 1925, a council came in to existence
that contains people's representatives.
ORIGIN OF THE NAME
According to ancient puraanaas,
Saint Aamalaka did his Tapas at vilwamala.
Later on this place came to
known as Thiruvilw-aamala (from aamalaka).
